Joanne is a partially sighted trained actress, role player, trainer and workshop leader.

As a qualified disability awareness trainer Joanne delivers workshops and presentations on:

  • Personal Resilience - including her own story of a diagnosis at 32 with BBS (Bardet-Biedl Syndrome) and how she has still performed, taught and run her own business despite societies expectations she would never manage.

  • How to Cope - with day to day challenges and the support aids that exist.

  • Medical Student Training – including how to communicate with the Visually impaired.

  • Your Rights and Support – including the Disability Equality Duty and the Disability Discrimination Act. How this applies to disabled people and those who care for them.

  • Guiding the Visually Impaired - including the skills, language and behaviours for guidance, dispelling the myths of social media.

Joanne is fully conversant with ATW (Access To Work) a package to enable the disabled self-employed to live a fulfilled working life.

As a trainer and role player Joanne combines her acting training and disability awareness to deliver using in a combination of input, practical activities, role play scenarios to provide a fully interactive experience.

Joanne is also available for OCSEs, Real Play and Role play, using her life experience to provide a more realistic opportunity for delegates in simulated exercises.
